Literacy Council of Alaska

The Literacy Council of Alaska (LCA) was established in 1973 as a 100% volunteer organization serving the needs of our English language learning population.  LCA’s goal was to reduce illiteracy in the Fairbanks community.   They offer the following programs: Adult Education Program (GED and Basic Reading Skills), English Language Learners (ELL), and Pathways Program, which offers career guidance for out of school young adults, ages 16-24.

Our services are culturally sensitive.  Services include emotional support and safety planning, education about the criminal justice system, emergency financial support, legal consultation, and referral services.
